Congratulations to Ayr Rugby Club who lifted the Scottish Hydro Electric Premiership Division One trophy on Saturday 7 March for the first time in their 112-year history.
Captain Damien Kelly said: “I’m lost for words. It’s been eight long years winning nothing but it means everything now. Winning the title is always what you plan for. If you didn’t want to win titles then you wouldn’t turn up. After about three or four games this season I noticed a big change in the way we were playing and we began to realise that this was a special team.”
Anna Crampin, Scottish Hydro Electric’s sponsorship manager commented: “This is a fantastic achievement by Ayr who have dominated the season from the outset. Scottish Hydro Electric is proud to sponsor club rugby in Scotland, and is pleased that a club like Ayr, who have an excellent youth development scheme and have built their success on a solid foundation, have benefited from our support”.
