Carbon Monoxide (CO) detectors
An audible Carbon Monoxide detector will alert you to the danger if Carbon Monoxide (CO) is present. You can be particularly at risk from CO poisoning when you’re asleep because you may not be aware of early CO symptoms until it’s too late. An audible CO detector could wake you and save your life.
Maintain your gas appliances
A Carbon Monoxide detector should only be used as a useful back-up. You should not rely on this alone and should always make sure you have your gas appliances regularly maintained by a CORGI-registered engineer.
About buying a detector
Make sure you buy a CO detector that complies with British Standard EN 50291 and carries a British or European approval mark, such as a Kitemark. Read the manufacturer's instructions before it’s installed.
Visit the Corgi website for more detailed information on steps to take to avoid the dangers of Carbon Monoxide and what you should look for when deciding on who to use for servicing and repairs to your appliances. There is specific information on buying a Carbon Monoxide alarm.
